Crash: (1996)

The film follows James Ballard (played by James Spader), a man whose life is upended after a near-fatal head-on collision. In the aftermath, he and his wife Catherine (Deborah Kara Unger) become entangled with a secretive underground subculture of "symphorophiliacs"—individuals who find sexual arousal in car accidents and the resulting injuries.

David Cronenberg’s (1996) is a chilling, cerebral meditation on the intersection of human flesh, modern technology, and the "death of affect". Often confused with the 2004 film of the same name (which focused on racial tensions), this 1996 masterpiece is an adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s 1973 novel and delves into a much darker, more esoteric corner of the human psyche. The Core Premise: Symphorophilia Crash (1996)
