The story begins roughly 30 minutes before the end of the original game. Players take on the role of Sergeant Michael Becket, a Delta Force operative sent to arrest Genevieve Aristide, the president of Armacham Technology Corporation. After a massive explosion decimates the city of Fairport, Becket wakes up in a surreal, hospital-like research facility, realizing he has been surgically altered to serve as a "lure" for Alma. Unlike the first game's office-heavy environments, Project Origin features a broader range of settings, including a ruined city, a terrifying elementary school, and deep underground research labs.
