The modern Killer Instinct "Free Download" found on Steam or the Microsoft Store provides access to all game modes, including Single-Player, Local, and Ranked Multiplayer.

Originally a launch title for the Xbox One, Killer Instinct served as a soft reboot of the classic 1990s fighting series. Developed initially by Double Helix Games and later by Iron Galaxy Studios, the game adopted a unique seasonal content model that expanded its roster to 29 fighters over several years.

For the first time, players on Steam can compete in Ranked matches against those on the Xbox and Windows ecosystems.

Both character and player level caps were raised from 50 to 65, introducing 87 new "Anniversary Color" remixes and additional stage unlocks like the Training Room and Debug Void .
