Learning to touch type is considered one of the most beneficial skills for visually impaired and blind individuals. This is because it allows them to transfer their thoughts easily and automatically onto a screen. It provides them with an invaluable tool and asset for independent working and communicating.
Learning to touch type at any age can dramatically boost confidence, self-belief and independence. However, teaching learners with visual impairment at an early age can drastically transform their experience whilst at school and in FE/HE. It puts them on a more even standing with their sighted peers and opens doors to new career opportunities.
Achieving muscle memory and automaticity when touch typing increases efficiency and productivity. However, most importantly, it frees the conscious mind to concentrate on planning, composing, processing and editing, greatly improving the quality of the work produced.
The KAZ course is a tutorial and is designed to be used independently or with minimum supervision. However, a structured lesson plan is available in Administrators’ admin-panels should they wish to teach the course during lessons.
Module 1– Flying Start - explains how the course works, teaches the home-row keys, correct posture whilst sitting at the keyboard, and explains the meaning, causes, signs, symptoms and preventative measures for Repetitive Strain Injury.
Module 2– The Basics - teaches the A-Z keys using KAZ’s five scientifically structured and trademarked phrases.
Module 3– Just Do It - offers additional exercises and challenge modules to help develop ‘muscle memory’, automaticity and help ingrain spelling.
Module 4– And The Rest - teaches punctuation and the number keys.
Module 5– SpeedBuilder - offers daily practice to increase speed and accuracy.
As the beat dropped, his reflection seemed to shift. He saw the face of an old friend who wasn't there to celebrate—a brother lost too soon. A quiet prayer left his lips, asking for protection from everything that wasn't meant for him and for his friend to find peace by God's side.
Joãozinho turned away from the mirror, grabbing his keys. The envy of others was just background noise to the music he was making. He wasn't just wearing luxury; he was wearing proof that dreams born in the dust could eventually shine like gold. Espelho Espelho Meu - MC Joãozinho VT - Spotify
In the heart of the favela, where the rhythm of the streets beats louder than any clock, MC Joãozinho VT stood before a full-length mirror, adjusting the collar of a shirt that felt like armor. Behind him, the low, heavy bass lines of DJ GM and DJ Boy rumbled through the floorboards—the sound of success making its way out of the neighborhood.
But success in the favela always brought a shadow: envy. He knew there were those watching from the corners, people who spent more time worrying about his life than their own. "Why are they so concerned?" he wondered, knowing the answer was hidden in their stares. Deep down, they didn't hate him—they wanted to be him. They were trapped by what their parents had handed them, while he was the one who could finally say, "the favela won".
He wasn't looking for beauty; he was looking at the reality of his journey. For years, he had been the underdog, the one with nothing but a dream. Now, his wrist carried a watch worth nearly 20,000 reais—a weight that reminded him of every struggle he’d overcome.
"Espelho, espelho meu," he whispered, a sharp, ironic twist on the old fairy tale.
