Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s three trips to Milan between 1770 and 1773 were critical in his transition from a child prodigy to a mature composer. During this period, he successfully composed Italian opera seria , including Mitridate, re di Ponto , and developed his style under the influence of G.B. Sammartini. Although Mozart gained musical prestige, his failure to secure a court position from Archduke Ferdinand fueled his artistic independence.
