Their capture is short-lived when a massive Sphinx —the guard of Level 2 that fell with them—creates a diversion that allows Luffy to break free and rescue the others.

The group is quickly confronted by Saldeath , the commander of the Blugori , who uses his flute to command the gorilla-like guards and trap the trio in a Seastone net .
