The floating text symbols seen when talking to Iterators are intended to represent a language beyond human (or slugcat) comprehension and are mostly randomized symbols.

Much of the "text" is visual or found in Developer Commentary , which describes the ruins of a "hyper-advanced civilization" now populated only by "storms, ruins, and abominations".
