The episode starts with Quagmire sitting at the Drunken Clam, nursing a beer. The gang is chatting and laughing, when suddenly, the door bursts open and a charming, womanizing older man walks in. This is Mort Quagmire, Quagmire's father. Quagmire is shocked to see his dad, whom he hasn't spoken to in years.
Mort Quagmire is a smooth-talking, ladies' man who immediately catches the attention of the Clam's female patrons. Peter, Joe, and Cleveland are amazed by the similarities between Quagmire and his father. "It's like looking at Quagmire 20 years from now," Peter says.
As Quagmire tries to get to know his father, he learns that Mort is in town for a bit of business. Mort explains that he's been working as a motivational speaker, traveling the country and teaching men how to pick up women. Quagmire is embarrassed and tries to distance himself from his father's antics.
When Quagmire's estranged father, Mort Quagmire, comes to Quahog, Peter and the gang can't help but notice the striking resemblance between Quagmire and his old man. As Quagmire tries to reconcile with his father, he learns some surprising secrets about his family's past.
As Quagmire and his father grow closer, Quagmire starts to confront some long-held feelings about his childhood and his relationship with his parents. He learns that his parents' divorce was not just a simple matter of his dad being a ladies' man, but also a result of his mom's infidelity.
Meanwhile, Peter and the gang get into some misadventures with Mort Quagmire, who teaches them some of his notorious pickup artist techniques. However, things quickly go awry when Mort's methods backfire, and the gang finds themselves in a series of awkward and humorous situations.
